I am Corben (lewis) John, a photographer and art director driven by the conviction that fashion, like any impactful art form, is fundamentally about storytelling. In a landscape often dominated by fleeting trends, revenue targets, and social posturing, I believe the most compelling image making possesses a vision that transcends these superficialities and understands the power of narrative. My background in filmmaking and screenwriting has instilled in me a deep affinity for narrative, a quality that now permeates my photographic and art directorial approach.
My aesthetic leans towards understated elegance and chic high fashion captured in almost documentary style. This translates into minimalistic framing, a carefully curated colour palette featuring earthy tones like beige, taupe, and olive green, alongside classic hues such as navy, black, and white. The overall aim is to achieve a clean, timeless, and sophisticated visual language. .
Film photography and editing are my core strengths. I've invested significant time in mastering these crafts, and they now form an integral part of my creative process. While proficient in digital photography, I primarily identify as a film photographer, recognising its unique artistic value. Similarly, I favour location shoots over studio work, believing that a well chosen setting can enhance the narrative potential of any project.
I am a fashion art direction graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, currently working freelance based in Manchester, London and Copenhagen.
